I have been making paintings of mason jars for at least the last couple years. There is a universality about them that intrigues me and they are ever-present in my home and studio.
Mason jars were invented by John Landis Mason in November of 1858 and have become indispensable to everyone from homesteaders to hipsters since. We’ve all got at least a couple kicking around our house holding everything from food, to random screws, nails... and probably some old weed too. They even make great vases in a pinch. In my house they serve as drinking glasses, dry food storage, leftover storage, and as jars to hold my painting medium. |
