This is a series of plein-air oil paintings made throughout the summer of 2022. The focus was on a specific tree—The Mermaid Cedar—located in qathet, British Columbia, Canada. The paintings were single sessions works painted on site; beginning with the works on paper in July and culminating in the 16x12 canvases in September.
